Baby waving at nothing and smiling

My baby is almost 11 months and loves to wave at people when they say hello. However recently she started waving at nothing and smiling. It has been freaking me out completely. Is this normal?? Have you experienced this?? I’m scared bc I’m usually alone with her till night.

happened to my older son for a short while (and usually just 2 of us alone at home). also freaked the daylights out of me cos he seemed to be smiling and looking to the same spot in the ceiling everytime! luckily after awhile he stopped... now 3yrs on, he complains of monsters in his room, so I duno if its related 😅
