We would do a screening of the mum to check - her blood count - platelet level - a condition called thalassaemia that may run in families - blood group - hepatitis - Syphilis, HIV - immune to Rubella. Optional blood tests are those that check for down syndrome and depends on whether the mum has any medical conditions.
