Hmmm that sounds more like a confinement type of thing. But I read that, alcohol used in cooking like Chinese rice wine might be safe for consumption if the food has been cooked for more than an hour since the alcohol would have burned off. But personally, I'd avoid anything with alcohol (even rice wine) during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester.

Don't take red yeast rice if you're pregnant, trying to become pregnant or breast-feeding. An older study raised the concern that some red yeast rice products contain a contaminant called citrinin, which can cause kidney failure.

Thanks all. But I'm more concerned over the red yeast than the alcohol as I know cooking it would dissolve the alcohol. Any ideas or info back up?

I was also concerned about the wine content too but I still ate it once or twice during my late pregnancy and things were ok?

Confinement ok but not pregnancy. I ate foochow ang chow chicken in my confinement. Picture attached
