2 months old very difficult to drink milk

Hi! My 2 month old son currently drinks at 150 ml both formula and breastmilk. Can anyone tell me if it’s normal to feed between 3-4 hours? Cause my MIL keeps telling me must be within 3 hours more than that cannot so must force feed even if baby doesnt want to.

Hi! It's great to see you reaching out for advice. As a mother with experience, I understand how concerning it can be when your little one is having difficulty drinking milk. Let me assure you that every baby is unique, and their feeding patterns can vary. At 2 months old, it is quite common for babies to feed between 3-4 hours. Your son's current intake of 150 ml both formula and breastmilk sounds appropriate for his age. It's important to remember that babies have small stomachs and may not always finish a whole bottle in one feeding. Regarding your mother-in-law's advice, while it's well-intentioned, it's essential to trust your instincts as a mother. Forcing a baby to feed when they're not hungry can lead to discomfort and potentially create negative associations with feeding. It's generally best to follow your baby's hunger cues and feed on demand. If your little one is showing signs of being full or not interested in feeding, it's okay to wait until the next scheduled feeding time. However, if you are concerned about your son's feeding habits or if he consistently refuses to drink milk, it may be helpful to consult with your pediatrician. They can provide personalized guidance based on your son's specific needs. Remember, every baby is different, and as a mother, you know your baby best. Trust your instincts and enjoy this special bonding time with your little one. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to ask. https://invl.io/cll6she
