slow development for boys

my 14 months old boy still dosen't really speak a word now, except unclear papa n mama. he also doesnt show interest when we teach him animals or whatever in the books. is this nornal for boys?

It is normal too when I go for flash card classes with my boy. The girls seem to speak better and the boys are lacking behind
