Pregnancy

Pregnant women should avoid black tea due to caffeine which causes the heart and kidney to work twice as hard. Black tea is also rich in tannic acid which may interfere with the body's ability to absorb iron, especially if you are anaemic.

Postpartum

Consumption of black tea during this period is strongly discouraged, due to it being high in caffeine and tannic acid.

Breastfeeding

It is best not to drink black tea during breastfeeding because black tea contains tannic acid that is considered as a breast milk killer in some women.

Baby

Black tea is unsuitable for babies under the age of 11 months.
