Summarizing my experiences after 3 emergency c-sects as a subsidised patient taking C ward. The first two at KKH were because labour failed to progress after over 20h, while the third at NUH was because I went into labour a day before my scheduled csect.

Housework after caesarean

How much housework do u do after caesarean? I do some light cooking, laundry, mopping the floor etc and my mum thinks it's too much haha. She says mummies are supposed to stay in bed to rest and recover during confinement period. But I have an 18mth old who needs to be fed and entertained at the same time so it seems impossible for me to really rest.

Maternity milk or pregnancy supplement?

Just wondering, do you take maternity milk and supplement or just either will do? Wonder whether I should get the milk or supplement. What's the main difference? If we take both there may be overdose of some vitamins and minerals isn't it?

Abdominal soreness after caesarean

How long do you feel soreness and tenderness in abdominal area after caesarean? I had caesarean 5 weeks ago. Wound heals well but the sore feeling is still always there.

You may have tenderness and discomfort for up to eight weeks after a C-section. But if you have any doubt or concern . better to meet your doctor soon.

Formula milk - 3 weeks

Hi, seems that the Similac milk I have says that I have to consume within 3 weeks after opening but that's actually a very short time period. Can we extend its life by putting in the fridge?

I’m assuming you’re talking about milk powder, so I’m basing my explanation below based on milk powder. By putting it in the fridge, you might expose it to the possibility of clumping when you open it, which would spoil it even faster. What you can try to do is to store the powder in a cool, dry place to help prolong its life. Of course try to finish it soon once open.

What does newborn feed on before milk comes in?

I'll be delivering at KKH. I heard from some mums that breastmilk comes in only after 3-4 days. So from birth till then, what does KKH (or hospitals in general) feed the baby? I also heard from someone that newborns have some reserves and can withstand those days without any formula or milk until breastmilk finally comes in.

Fetal weight at 33 weeks

I'm 1.65m 54kg, 33 weeks pregnant and fetal weight is estimated to be only 1.2kg. doctor says ok because I'm quite light. I probably only gained 5kg this pregnancy. Baby seems very active and have strong movements. Anyone in similar situation?

I only gain about 8 kg for both preg. bb around 2.7 to 3kg. very easy to lose weight within 2 weeks after delivery.

Oil/lotion/gel for newborn

What product do you use to moisturiser newborn's skin and is it the same for doing massage? I'm thinking of using aloe vera gel but not sure if that's appropriate.
