What to Do When Visiting the Dominican Republic

https://ru.ivisa.com/dominican-republic-e-ticket Many Dominican Republic residents can be eligible for treatment abroad under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Unfortunately this right is not available to everyone. Unless you have a valid visa, your Dominican Republic health insurance will automatically terminate if you have an existing condition. In most cases a Dominican Republic travelers health affidavit will indicate that you will still have access to healthcare within the Dominican Republic should you need it. The most important requirement of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) is that all healthcare visits and hospital stays must be covered. In most instances this will cover emergency medical care. It may also cover prescription medication and non-medical services such as psychotherapy. Ask your insurance company before you travel to the Dominican Republic if your medication and appointments are covered. Make sure you read all the fine print so you are aware of what is and is not covered. There are many differences between the different plans available from any of the major international health insurers. Another important requirement of the HIPAA is that a health care practitioner shall be contacted twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. This requirement is only applicable if you are a patient on a private list of private health care providers. Private medical practitioners are not recognized by the Dominican Republic government. Therefore, all medication and medical treatment must be provided through the Dominican Republic approved HMO or PO system. You will be required to comply with this requirement. Your medical insurance will be terminated upon your arrival. Once you have received all the documentation necessary to travel to the Dominican Republic, it is advisable to complete the necessary visa paperwork. There are three main sources from which you can obtain a visa, they are the Dominican Republic government, the embassies of the country of your origin and US consulates. As long as your passport has been approved by the Passport Office, you can also get a visa at the nearest airport. The process for obtaining a visa is faster than applying for an individual visa. This is another reason why the Dominican Republic is such a popular choice for family travel. Remember once you have arrived in the Dominican Republic, you will still need to obtain a health insurance (hipaa) before entering the country. You will need to apply for a health insurance card at the closest office of the Dominican Republic Health Insurance (HOCC). You will need to provide your date of birth and social security number. Many Dominicans are comfortable with the idea that they can travel abroad for medical treatment. You don't need to worry about it because the Dominican Republic insurance (hipaa) will protect you.
