One Year Birthday Traditions / Customs

Dear Asian Parents, being from Asian decent but growing up in Europe myself, I would like to ask if you'd have any suggestions for my baby's upcoming one year birthday. Any traditional or customary gifts, foods, prayers, clothing etc. That would be nice to share? Looking forward to your input and ideas!

We usually let baby pick items (like money, calculator, Doctor set, book etc) to determine what they will do in future and step on Ang ku kueh (so they would be grounded when they grow up)

How do I get my baby to drink from the Sippy Cup?

All she does is play with it and turn it upside down. I have the no spill cup and tried with normal small cup.

When I started giving sippy cup, I let my baby play with it and teach him how to use it. I give him water on a separate cup until he can drink on his own in sippy cup.
