Sugar Test (OGCT and OGTT) for 24-28 Weeks Pregnancy

Hello, future mommies! ? Anyone else who has also undergone the same laboratory testing for sugar tolerance? I would just like to share my laboratory results (and experience) for sugar tests (OGCT & OGTT). Just a little background on these tests. They are performed to check how well your body can handle sugar. Pang-check din ito kung candidate ka for diabetes type 2 or gestational diabetes during pregnancy. Women are prone to developing diabetes daw kasi habang nagbubuntis, so mahalaga na macheck tayo agad to avoid complications during delivery kasi it can lead to larger-sized baby, premature delivery and preeclampsia. So I had my first OGCT (Oral Glucose Challenge Test) 50 g last Dec. 5, 2018. Wala namang kakaiba. That time I was taking my prenatal milk. Sabi nila, hindi naman siya masama for our health, and hindi rin daw totoo na nakakataas ng sugar ang prenatal milk, so ang ginagawa ko was hinahalo ko siya sa fruit shake (papaya, banana, etc.) Masarap siya, kaya minsan nakaka-3 glasses ako a day ng fruit shake with prenatal milk. Lesser sweets, lesser rice intake. Tapos umiinom din ako ng 3-4 liters of water a day, and nag-buko juice din ako. Binigyan ako ng OB ko ng another laboratory request for OGTT 75 g naman na dapat magawa mo before you reach your 28th week of pregnancy. Jan 20, 2019. 28 weeks & 1 day na ako into pregnancy. Pinag-fasting ako for 8 hours before my 1st blood extraction (6 am). Pinainom ako ng glucose drink. Tapos after 2 hours na ulit yung 2nd blood extraction (8 am). Nakuha ko yung lab results ko after lunch. Lo and behold, normal na siya! ?? (Excuse me) Nag-LBM ako, tapos nahihilo na nasusuka, but I had to stop myself from vomitting kasi uulitin 'yung test 'pag isinuka mo 'yung glucose drink, so kapit lang, mga mumsh. Bottomline, super happy ako na my sugar levels went back to normal, and I am really glad na nandyan ang OB ko na talagang inalagaan 'yung health ko. ? Totoo nga na while you're pregnant, hindi lang dapat health ni baby ang binabantayan mo. Dapat 'yung health mo rin. ? Kindly share your experience as well if nag-undergo ka sa ganito. Help natin ang kapwa mommies-to-be natin. ?
