Ingredients
- 8 country-style bread slices
- 150 g mozzarella cheese , drained and sliced
- 2 eggs
- ¾ cup milk
- All-purpose flour , for dusting
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp butter
- Salt and pepper
Steps
- Sandwich the mozzarella between two slices of bread.
- Beat the eggs and milk in a shallow dish. Season with salt and pepper. Dust the sandwiches with the flour. Place the sandwiches, one by one, in the beaten egg mixture. Press down gently with a spatula so the bread absorbs some of the mixture.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium-high heat. Add the sandwiches, cooking each side until crisp and golden brown, about 2 minutes. Remove with a spatula and drain on paper towels. Serve immediately.
