Classic Okra and Tomatoes Recipe

1 pound fresh okra

1/4 cup bacon drippings

1 onion, chopped

1 green bell pepper, chopped

1 28-ounce can whole tomatoes

1 tsp brown sugar

1 tsp table salt

1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper

1 lemon, cut in wedges

1 tbsp all-purpose flour

Lutuin ang okra sa kumukulo na tubig at takpan sa saucepan ng 10mins o hangang lambot. Drain at palamigin ng mabuti mga 30mins.

Cut the okra into ¼-inch-thick slices, at itapon ang stems.

Initin ang bacon drippings sa saucepan sa medium high heat, at idagdag ang onion at bell pepper, i-saute ng 6mins, o hangang malambot. Idagdag ang tomatoes, sugar, salt, pepper, lemon, at okra. Hinaan ang init sa medium, takpan at simmer ng 10mins.

Haluin ang flour at 1 tbsp ng water hangang smooth, at idagdag sa okra mixture. Lutuin at i-stir continuously mga 2-3 minutes o hangang lumapot.
