Most of the time, my friends try to skip oil when preparing food for their babies but they do occasionally use olive oil, vegetable oil or clarified butter aka ghee. It's natural to want to keep fats away from your cooking but there are good and bad fats. Good fats are needed for baby's development.

Heena, olive oil and virgin coconut oil are both good options. But as a rule, try to avoid adding too much oil - even the good ones - to your baby's food. Here's a good article for you to browse through :) http://sg.theasianparent.com/best-cooking-oils-for-your-family/

Virigin coconut oil is good, but I used to add organic ghee made out of cow's milk for my daughter's food, especially if it was a non-dairy based meal, such as lentil soup, pureed vegetables. I also preferred organic unsalted butter to any of the cold-pressed oils.
