Milk supply after birth when having menses

Is it true that milk supply will eventually stop when menses is here? (Currently about 8week after birth) Is it possible to continue bf more than 6mo even menses has come? I was sad and emo when I found out. Didn’t expect it to come to early (for my #2) as i pump for 9mo for my #1.
