remedy for phlegmy cough

Any parents had experience with very long term cough like months. My kid has been seeing Docs and pd but after rounds of medications still has not recovered frm his cough.he was suspected with Sinus causing it. But din seem to recover. Any other good recommendation like tcm or aromatherapy for such cough?
