Hard Sole Or Soft Sole For 17 Months Baby??

Hi mummies, I have just bought 2 pair of hard soled shoes for my 17 months old baby. All along, his was wearing soft sole shoes. The sales lady told me that he should wear a hard sole shoe which also can help him for his tip toe walking. After googling, some experts said that soft sole will be better as their feet are growing. I need advice as I am a ftm. Thank you very much.
