Postpartum engorgment & constipation

Hi mummies :) I gave birth on 27 Jan and have yet to pass motion. Is it normal? I am drinking plenty of water, eat stool softener but no sign of đŸ’©. Maybe it’s just nervesđŸ˜« Also am suffering from sudden engorgement, pumped and latched my newborn best I can but the boobs is still big and like hard?? I read that it’s normal however just wanna know if other mums have experienced this and maybe provide some tips to ease this phase.

congratulations! (: I just gave birth on 27th too btw. i managed to pass motion once just on the 29th. The nurse provided me with hot tea which it does help for me. You can try that if you want. for the boobs, my right was engorged. hard and big. I was worried as i do not provide sufficient but was told not to worry about the amount. Was emphasised to keep expressing every 3 hours. if no milk, to keep massaging the boobs every 3 hours. eventually it will soften. it works for me. i hope it works for you.

Thanks for replyingâ˜ș I finally poop today, I think 80% stems from fear of any pain but it was alright, just avoided any form of straining💀 As for the engorgment on my right boob, it’s still the same after warm shower, 2 hrly pumps. I can barely massaged it cause it’s hard, I just gently knead it but it hurtsđŸ™‡đŸ»â€â™€ïž Hopefully the postpartum massage will get rid of the engorgment..

hi! this might sound a little weird but try to freeze a piece of cabbage then place it on the engorged boob. BUT only for an hour and below unless you're not planning to breastfeed anymore. it works wonder for me and my other family members. i'm a oversupplier exclusive pumping mom! 😊
