Is it safe to have a puppy with a 14 month old?

Hey mummies, does having a puppy or dog affect a 14 month old baby? I'm planning to buy an puppy but I'm scared that it would affect my baby like making her sick and stuff is it true is it safe?

A puppy is a commitment. Maybe option to foster a dog for short period may work better. But there should be other methods or chances to see how it can affect baby.
