Copper IUD

Hi mummies, anyone got copper IUD before and how was it ? Whats the side effect and hows your period? Heard that it doesnt affect hormone but period will be very painful and more heavy flow. And if I accidently get pregnant with IUD, theres a chance of ectopic pregnancy and would need to remove one tube. Is it true ? Im planning to get a non hormonal contraceptive and at the same time will still use protection.

Hello! I had it before starting a family because I got married young and we were still in university so we didn't want to accidentally get pregnant. We became part of the 0.01% and after 2 years of marriage, I had an ectopic pregnancy and had to remove my left tube cos the baby was alr 6+ weeks. We took it as a sign from god to try for a baby and had my son soon after... For me I had a lot more cramping and slightly heavier start of period but longer to clear as well.. usually 8 days I think. But aside from that, no issues. Haha would do it again after we are done having kids.
