Malay or Muslim Confinement

Hi mommies, My husband is Muslim, and I am not (I have not converted yet), but I still try to follow as much as I can. My mother-in-law is Chinese (converted), but she is unable to help/guide me since it has been over 30 years. I just want to understand and learn more about the confinement process, whether it's cultural for Malays or for religious, so that I can try to learn/follow. #1sttimemom #adviceappreciated

For confinement highly advised for you to follow the 30 days to 44 days of PP confinement after birth. You can do PP massage that is inclusive of wearing pilis on forehead, bengkung wrap (belly wrap), tangkas treatment, sengkak (after confinement). You can look up on the website for PP confinement nanny or available massage makcik. Sometime they have packages. However, do ask around or do you due diligent of checking review to avoid overcharging. Highly advise to wear socks and bedroom slippers to keep your feet warm. Sitz bath for vaginal birth to reduce swell and heal faster. Always have pillow at your side or back to ensure you don't feel pain and easy to also BF baby during feeding. Have proper confinement food. Both after birth I had Ibu Kunyit drink (Turmeric drink) and Ubat periuk (Herbs drink). This was made by my parents to ensure it helps in inner healing. Confinement is a must to ensure you heal well, you get rest, your body get to "restart" with proper massage and food confinement. Also ensuring you can BF with good amount of supply as well as getting back in shape. Hope this helps. I did confinement after each birth. I may be right/wrong and there can be more as this is up to individual.
