Is it important to be working woman to earn respect in society or in family? I work day in and day out but at times feel that had I been working outside and earning, my family would have more respect for me. Does working full time affect the way people look at you?

it is sad yet true that in our society, people feel that if a woman is staying at home and 'just' taking care of the home and kids, she is not doing anything. on the other hand, if the woman goes out of the house and works same or even lesser hours, it is considered that she is doing something 'real.' maybe it has something to do with the fact that going out and working brings in money and people can see monetary results from teh same. but otherwise, i have always maintained that a woman who is staying at home and caring for everything is doing as much or even more work than a man or woman who works outside.
