Need more breastmilk

I'm 1 month postpartum today. I haven't been latching baby exclusively. I only rest for two weeks and I Resume my classes in diploma as I'm a sponsored student from a local hospital..I mixed feed my LO. After 1 mth if I dun really latch my LO can I produce more bf by pumping only? I have tried so many supplements but the milk production is not much..how frequent should I pump? A little upset and stress..even though I've already went back to school I still want to give my LO breastmilk..😓#advicepls #pleasehelp

Hey mama, Milk removal needs to be consistent - breastmilk works on demand and supply so pumping every 3h at least should help maintain your BM supply. As another mama has mentioned here, drink lots, eat well and get rest when you can. Some mamas have found that having a nursing weekend helps to give your BM supply a boost - this is where you spend the weekend nursing her and bingeing on lots of Netflix movies :) put your feet up and you could try eating chocolate or oats - many mamas say they’re good galactogogues (foods that help increase breastmilk supply). Another way to boost your milk supply is to have plenty of skin on skin (where baby’s bare skin is on yours with no barrier nor clothing in between). Check out these articles too: https://kellymom.com/hot-topics/low-supply/ https://kellymom.com/hot-topics/pumping_decrease/ Hope you find them useful!

thank you so much mummy!

Must drink plenty of water. Like triple your body weight. Breastmilk is 88% water. So if you’re drinking less, your breastmilk will also be less. Latch baby whenever you can, pump after latch too. You may also want to add power pump (takes 1hr) at least once a day. 20mins pump 10mins rest (drink water) 10mins pump 10mins rest (drink water) 10 mins pump

Oh yes, I also tried lactation cookies from Oh Milky Mama. But I can’t afford it long term. You can try adding oats into your meals. Great source of milk booster. Can you pump in school? Is there a nursing room? If yes then you should totally sneak in at least 30mins pump in school probably during lunch time. Pack lunch and pump at the same time. It’s tough, but that’s how some mummies manage at work. For me, I didn’t have a nursing room in my office building so I pumped at my work space (shared desk) with a nursing cover during lunch time. I bought a cooler bag, ice bricks/packs and breastmilk storage bags. Watched Netflix, pumped and eat at the same time. I left home at 7am and reached home at 7pm and my ice bricks/packs lasted me that long. Breastfeeding journey is tough Mummy, hope yours can last as long as possible.

At the beginning (2 mths ago), I pump every 3 hours but 20 mins. 3 cycles - 2 mins massage mode and 5 mins expression mode. I took lactation cookies too and it helps. Now I pump every 5 hours. (About 4 times a day)

About 300 ml each session.

you should not be too hard on yourself. whether it is breastmilk or formula milk, your LO is getting the right nutrient intake. i stop breastfeeding after 3 weeks

hi there i feel u. ive stop breastfeeding my baby way earlier probably 2 weeks since she was warded due to dehydration and my milk supply very low and somehow poor latch. By the time i wanted to increase my milk supply, she already drank 90 ml and my milk supply cannot keep up w her intake. i was so stress and sad too coz i cant breastfeed her long enough 😣 Dont worry mummy as long as your baby full and healthy, ur baby will be fine. That's what i told myself. 😌

how often are u pumping now?

every 2-3 hrs but I only yield at most 40-60mls.after 2-3 hrs when I try to pump again my breast like so empty. sometimes I just latch her on.. so when she cry murder I will give formula.
