First pregnancy: when do you usually start mat leave

I read some mums start on day of delivery but I’m hoping to set a fixed day with my boss to ensure smoother handover. When do you usually start? And do FTMs usually deliver earlier or later?

ML starts on the day of delivery. If u're with private gynae, try to ask for HL prior to EDD so tt u can hve more ML aft birth. I talked to my gynae abt it at 32nd wk and he agreed to grant me HL frm 36th wk onwards. I pre-empted my boss at 32 wks tt I might be on HL, gave him my doctor's memo too abt my recurring migraines just so tt there's a black and white, partly also to protect myself from being given extra new projects 😅. So I had abt a month to clear my work and prepare for handover before my HL at 36th wk.
