Tips to push & minimize tear

I have 6 more weeks to go before EDD and hoping for vaginal birth with epidural. Any mummies can share any tips to minimise tearing down there during delivery ? How to push and any tips and methods to push? As i heard the nurse wont teach us how to push. Heard that controlling our breathing, not lifting the butt and put chin down when pushing helps. #FTM

I had no perineal tear with my third child, because lesson learnt from the first and second 😅 this time what I think helps me during my labour is during my third trimester I ate lots of dates specifically. I munch as and when like snacks. I also did atleast 20-30 mins walking a day. I think this helps to dilate faster because your cervix is soften. I didn’t take any epidural before therefore I can’t advice on what you will be feeling but I’m aware when contractions come the midwife/gynae let you know, that’s when you don’t rush into pushing. Take a very deep breath and exhale it while countdown from your mind 10-1. & definitely don’t move about when you’re pushing & never lifts up your butt ever. Just bring your shoulder forward to your tummy, chin down and push!! Good luck mummy! â˜ș

hey! i just gave birth 3 weeks ago. i had internal tears and was on epidural. the nurses teach me on how to push and do not lift up my butt no matter what. yes put your chin down and push when you feel contractions! i kept on saying i couldn't do it but the nurses were really sweet and give me encouragment so i pushed for 24 mins and it was a relieved after my baby was out! i wish you all the best and remember the moment you thought you couldn't do it, YOU CAN DO IT MAMA 💖

Nope, both pregnancy doctor/nurse/midwife thought me how to push, chin down, butt down, no screaming/shouting/voice. Just do silent push, each contractions take a deep breathe push. Follow your pace, dont panic. I had tearing for both pregnancy, normal as well as vacuum assisted though both was the technic I took in. So tearing will happened but wont be as bad as if you lift butt or you do it wrongly.

nurses will teach but i was on epidural and panicking so I wasnt able to really do "correct" push most of the time (you will know correct or wrong method of pushing as the nurses will keep correcting u haha). vacuum assisted delivery and my gynae told me she was surprised its very minimal tear

the perineal massage helps for reducing the tearing. Please do ask your gynea to teach you how to do it. I did mine when I was 34weeks pregnant until the last day, I had no tearing. the nurses and the midwife will teach you how to push when the time comes

The nurses did teach.. but i didnt feel anyting when i was pushing coz of the epidural. And i tink mine didnt really get much tear..
