I did the normal urine test and doctor said I have excess protein in urine and ask me to urine into a bottle for urine culture test. Should I be worried?

Excess protein in urine and accompanied with high blood pressure could mean pre-eclampsia. Pre-eclampsia is a potentially life-threatening condition. Unfortunately, pre-eclampsia may have no noticeable symptoms. Which is why gynaecologist will screen you at every prenatal visit by taking your blood pressure and checking your urine for protein. Pre-eclampsia usually occurs during the third trimester but it can develop at any time in the second half of pregnancy. If left untreated, it can lead to dangerous complications for you and your baby. For more information, it can be found here: http://www.babycenter.com/0_preeclampsia_257.bc
