False labour/Braxton Hicks contractions can be differentiated from real labour in three aspects. 1. In real labour, the whole womb hardens. In false labour, it is only a certain part of the womb. 2. Real labour comes in waves/regular intervals. False labour has no regularity about it. 3. Real labour is not affected by the mother's position, posture or activity. False labour can get better or worse when the mother assumes a different posture or activity.
