Baby Porridge

Hi my baby just turn six months. Do we use normal rice to cook their porridge and how do we cook the porridge to prevent choking? To add vegetables, should the vegetables be puree? Also what temperature should the porridge be served? Sorry for the questions as first time mom. #pleasehelp #firstbaby #advicepls #1stimemom

Hi! If you want to give rice, maybe you can try Gerber Organic Rice mixed with BM or warm water for baby’s first food. Usually you can also give steamed and thoroughly blended vegetables or fruits for a start. Go on YouTube and search for purées for babies and you can have a wide variety to choose and follow from. However if you want to make your own porridge, just make sure the water is more than the rice by A LOT. Do ensure you introduce baby food gradually and not change everyday for a start so you can know what he or she might be allergic to. At 6 months old, all foods MUST be puréed. Their stomach is not fully developed yet to break down harder solids so the food they eat must be soft and watery/slightly thick, like their milk.
