Coughing during confinement

Hi, anyone experienced coughing during confinement? Whenever i cough, my perineal area will hurt cos given birth naturally & have 1st degree tear. Any remedies? Can take normal cough medicines? Cos confinement food are full of herbal stuffs plus a few supplements (calcium, vit D, iron & fenugreek) from hospitals too. It feels like there's too much medicine.
