Pregnancy

While it has a range of good nutrients, sea lettuce contains very high levels of iodine which is not too safe during pregnancy. Best to avoid.

Postpartum

With its high nutritional content, sea lettuce can help mums to remove toxins and excrete lochia. However, there are risks associated with eating too much iodine-rich foods including sea lettuce, so limit consumption.

Breastfeeding

Sea lettuce may help prevent breast cancer. However, excessive consumption can produce symptoms of hyperthyroidism. Best to stick to moderate consumption of sea lettuce while breastfeeding.

Baby

Sea lettuce is not suitable for babies under the age of 11 months.
