It is best not to drink rice wine during pregnancy because it contains alcohol. Alcohol can enter the placenta through your blood. It can damage your unborn child's brain development, resulting in developmental disorders, mental retardation, deformity, and other serious medical problems in the baby.
Mothers in postpartum period can drink boiled rice wine with caution. After boiling for 15 minutes on high temperature, the alcohol will evaporate, but what is left offers very little in terms of nutrition.
Breastfeeding mothers can drink boiled rice wine, but should be cautious. Boil rice wine for 15 minutes on high temperature for the alcohol to evaporate, but what is left has no nutritional value.
Rice wine is not suitable for babies under the age of 11 months, or of any age.
