Craving Mala hotpot during pregnancy? While the spicy, numbing Mala sauce that originates from China is certainly delicious, it packs a strong chilli punch and can be quite oily. The high chilli content can aggravate heartburn in pregnancy. So, while it's okay to consume, proceed with caution and limit it to just a couple of times a month.

Postpartum

During the postpartum period, it's okay to eat mala hotpot. But limit the quantity and frequency of consumption as the high chilli content may irritate your digestive system and make passing that first bowel movement even more painful. Proceed with caution!

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding mamas, go ahead and have that spicy bowl of mala hotpot. Just make sure your baby is not near you while you eat, to prevent accidents involving both the hot soup and chilli.

Baby

With its very high chilli content and spiciness levels, mala hotpot is not the best food option for little ones. Best to avoid it until your child is much older and comfortable with hot and spicy foods.
