You should stop drinking alcohol when you start trying to get pregnant, or at least as soon as you know that you're pregnant. Alcohol has been proven to cause birth defects like fetal alcohol syndrome. Drinking alcohol while pregnant may lead to miscarriages, premature birth, and health complications in the fetus.
New mums shouldn't drink alcohol while recovering from childbirth. You are still trying to regain your strength, and alcohol will only make you feel weaker. If you are not breastfeeding, you can consult your OB GYN when it's safe to drink alcohol again.
Breastfeeding mums shouldn't drink alcohol, as it can pass in small qunatities to your breastmilk. While the occasional sip is okay, wait for around 2 hours after drinking before you nurse your baby. Or, you may pump and dump.
Alcohol is not suitable for babies/ children of any age under any cincumstances.
