Toddler cough and colds remedies.

Hi! I'm a first time mother of a 2 and a half year old boy. I would like to get some idea or advices on how to handle and cure my Son's long time cough. It is winter here in Greece and I know it is the season of cough and colds here but I would like to get some advices that can really help my Son get rid of his almost 3 months cough because his pediatrician doesn't recommend cough syrups. I want to know some other remedies that can heal toddlers cough. Thanks!
