Fainting spells during first trimester?

Is it normal to feel lightheaded and fainting spells during your first trimester? Other symptoms I experienced include feeling shortness of breath, dark vision, breaking out in full sweat, and heaviness of body. It gets better after I’m seated with my head low, but it just doesn’t feel good. I have history of low BP in the past but this usually only happens like once a year, but now it has happened to me for the past 2 mornings while I’m in the train commuting to work. Should I be worried? Does it warrant medical attention? #firstimemom #firsttrimester

While it is normal, it's good to err on side of caution and consult your gynae. Especially because these symptoms can potentially physically harm you and baby (e.g. if you faint and fall). I believe lightheadedness/blurred vision/fainting spells are also symptoms of quite a few different pregnancy-related conditions (e.g. high blood pressure, low haemoglobin levels/iron, gestational diabetes), so better to consult a professional than solely take the opinions here! And don't scare yourself unnecessarily :) Take care!!

Thanks for the advice! Yeah I’ve just booked myself in to see my OBG tomorrow 🤞🏻

i did have fainting spells and seeing white/dark spots during my first trimester and early 2nd trimester. i told my gynae about it and he told me its normal because the amount of blood and oxygen the baby takes in is alot and will make you feel exhausted and also fainting spells. gynae advise to drink alot of water and have some rest in between. :) you’ll be fine when you reach 2nd trimester. dont forget to take all the supplements! eat more iron-rich food :)

Yes, experienced the same up till 4th month :( What helped me was eating a meal before leaving house & having sweets as and when I start to feel light headed. Take care!
