Hi, stork centre is for high risk pregnancies. E.g. those with multiple pregnancies (twins, triplets etc.), pre-existing conditions like diabetes, or other chronic illnesses. Dont worry! It’s not scary at all. I am with stork centre because I am a diabetic before I got pregnant. Initially I was also worried about what to expect. But trust me, the doctors are awesome there. They have a team of doctors who will rotate to see you. For my condition, it’s diabetes, so at every appointment I see both diabetic doctor and gynae together at the same room. They will both talk to me about my diabetes, scan the baby and check on pregnancy symptoms etc. Of course, sometimes expect four doctors cause they may have doctors understudying them too. While it sounds intimidating, and I did feel a bit odd to have so many doctors talking to me one after another in a room, they are very patient and I feel very well taken care of. They take your condition seriously and puts in effort to check-in on you. I hope you’ll encounter a similar experience too! Anyway stork centre is just a name, you still see the doctors at Clinic B or C, which is where most preggies see their gynae in the same clinics.

So far everytime i see gynae, she will scan. In between when there are detailed scans etc., the appointment will be fixed at Antenatal diagnostic centre and scan will be done by a sonographer not a radiographer.

Hi there! I have been on follow up at the stork centre too since my first trimester because of my hypothyroidism.. As the other user mentioned, its a clinic for higher risk pregnancies for mommies with pre-existing medical conditions. When I come for my appts there, I am seen by two doctors, one endocrinologist and one gynae( sometimes three doctors, I think maybe they’re students or smth) it’s basically having an extra doctor who specialises on your condition to pay more attention to how you are coping and managing with your pregnancy. This will give you an opportunity to better understand what’s going on and clarify anything you like too. The doctors might also do a quick scan in the consultation room too.. The nurses there are very nice and approachable so dont worry okay? I hope you have a pleasant and smooth pregnancy!
