Sure you can go via subsidised route then switch to private later part of your pregnancy but do take note, some gynaes are mostly fully booked so you may want to research on your preferred gynae now. I remembered I was in my 2Nd trimester when I wanted to go private but my gynae was fully booked so I went subsidised all the way. I gave birth to my firstborn in Oct 2020. I also chose B2 ward (6-bedded, air con with fan), the highest subsided ward you can get (since B2 plus is closed). I had emergency c-sect due to high fever and baby in distress. Post-delivery I developed pre-eclampsia so had to stay in hospital for 6 days. My total bill alone was $11,526 (before Govt grant of $7242). Balance was covered by my hospital insurance. Baby’s bill $2053 (before Govt grant $980) was covered by husband’s Medisave. You’ll receive a link to view the estimated cost of both normal and c-sect delivery in 3rd trimester I think. You can also call in to enquire but those are vague costs though, you won’t know until you are discharged, bill will be sent to you.
