32 weeks and nervous to give birth
hi im 32 weeks plus & im nervous to give birth. Im afraid of the pain.. :(

Hi mama! It is perfectly understandable to be afraid of the unknown. Most mums find that fear is removed through knowledge and understanding. Reframing the ‘pain’ that you’re anticipating is a good start. Read more about why contractions happen and why they must happen. Contractions are not a means to suffering. They are a means to birth your baby. They are surges, movements of muscles to have baby wiggle her way out, to have baby squeezed out. The beauty in this is that your body prepares you gradually for this. Braxton Hicks or practice contractions occur as your body slowly, gradually learns how to contract the fundus (the top of the uterus) so that baby can be moved down progressively. Further, contractions happen in waves, so they build and then come down. They are not sharp jabs of pain that hit suddenly. They progress as you go along. Here’s a great vid to watch how contractions work: https://www.southdaleobgyn.com/labor-delivery/how-contractions-work/ This is another good one: https://youtu.be/ahJgLFeuEFg Hope this helps mama! The important thing to know is that you’ve got this! Growing a baby is no mean feat and you’ve done that! Surround yourself with love and support. Create a safe environment for yourself so that you feel comfortable birthing. Your body will produce endorphins you need to help get you through each surge so our bodies really are miraculous creations!
