Dating scan advice

I really want to avoid having a transvaginal scan if possible. It sounds really scary. If I see a gynae at week 7-8, would I be able to avoid it?#firsttimemom

I had a transvaginal scan at 6 weeks when the abdominal one failed (couldn't see clearly), it wasn't painful at all (i have low threshold for pain) Just discomfort when pressed down to see. My concern was just how the same probe has been in and out of so many people.
