Fertility test needed?

I went for a fertility check at a private hosp immediately after marriage before we started TTC. They call it a preconception check up. Reason being is that my hubs has thalassemia and there is a risk for the baby if I am too. So I did blood tests and all. During the fertility check, found out that my hubs has low morphology (treatable with good lifestyle & supplements) so doctor prescribed sperm supplements. The whole thing did costs quite ex though but glad we found out about how our fertility status is.
