Cord blood banking - thoughts?

Hello, will you consider to store your baby’s cord blood? Hubs and I can’t come to a decision about this. #pleasehelp #firsttimemom

https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2022/10/cord-blood-banking-transplant-cost-worth-it/671765/ It’s recommended not to unless the sickness runs in the family and you are planning to have a second child. Even so, there’s no guarantee that whatever is stored can be used. It’s still highly recommend to donate it rather than store it.

That’s a very useful article! Thanks for sharing

Most of us don’t store because of budget. Cord blood is like storing something that you don’t know if you’ll use it or not, yet you have to pay for at least a decade or two. I would say if you have the budget, definitely go ahead :).

I donated mine to scbb, from what I know, in an event if we were to need it n it's still available we'll get to use it. Otherwise if it's no longer available then we'll get priority for the next avail one or smth like that

Ya agree with what the mummies said here. I initially thought of storing but decided to donate to SCBB after my husband did some research online and we had a chat with the staff at SCBB.

no medical history for us (parents) but we decided to bite the bullet and store. it's just like buying insurance and pray that we wouldn't need to use it.

Can also consider donating rather than discarding. :) https://www.scbb.com.sg/CommunityBanking/Pages/public-cord-blood-donation.aspx

I will donate to the public one. Should I need it in the future, they will also provide me at no cost since Im a donor

I stored it just in case if the need arises then at least we can use it. But touch wood hopefully wont get to use it.

if ur or ur husband family got medical history, better store it as a precaution.

is good to store, we store our 1st born using baby bonus
