Pregnancy

Peri peri sauce is made from the very spicy bird's eye chillies. Given this, it can be quite hot even though very delicious. Consume with caution especially if you are prone to heartburn during pregnancy.

Postpartum

It's fine to consume peri peri sauce in moderation during the postpartum period. Just be aware of its high chilli content and the effect this may have on your first bowel movement after giving birth. Too much chilli can also trigger heartburn, so it's best to consume in small quantities.

Breastfeeding

You can most certainly have that peri peri chicken burger, breastfeeding mama! As with all "saucy" foods, avoid eating while breastfeeding in case that hot and spicy sauce accidently drips on your baby.

Baby

Due to its high chilli content, it's best to avoid giving food with peri peri sauce to your little ones after they star solids at around six months old. The chilli may irritate your little one's tender mouth and digestive system, causing discomfort and pain. Wait until your child is old enough to eat spicy food comfortably.
