Pregnancy

Pregnant women should be careful while eating dried salted plum (Li hing mui). Some mums find that it relieves morning sickness. However, dried plums usually have additives such as aspartame, saccharine and MSG, so it is better to restrict your intake.

Postpartum

You can eat dried salted plum post childbirth, but in moderation. It is high in salt, additional flavours and sugar, and contains preservatives. Since it is similar to pickled food, it is difficult to ensure its safety and hygiene.

Breastfeeding

Dried flavoured plums are usually high in salt or sugar and contain synthetic sweeteners and preservatives. Eating in excess might affect breast milk quality.

Baby

Dried salted plums are not suitable for babies and children.
