Hipseat or Ergonomic Carrier??

I was told by my sister in law that my baby boy needs to use a hipseat carrier to prevent his private parts from getting “squashed”. But I find that an ergonomic carrier is better at supporting his back and hip. Is what my sister in law mention true? Or should I just stick to an ergonomic carrier?
