
Nurungji (Scorched Rice)






Ingredients
- 2 cups white short-grain rice
- 3 cups water
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- Sugar (for dipping)
Steps
- Wash two cups of Okome short-grain rice with cold water multiple times.
- Cook the rice in a rice cooker.
- Once cooked, air the rice for 10 minutes.
- Brush some sesame oil on a non-stick frying pan.
- Cover the base of the pan with a thin layer of rice and cook over medium heat.
- Flip the nurungji after 15 minutes.
- Sprinkle sugar on the nurungji.
- Once the nurungji starts to get scorched on both sides, take it off the pan and let it cool.
- (Optional) You can dip the nurungji in raw sugar for more flavour.
