Tauhu Sumbat with Peanut Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/2 turnips julienned- thin strips
  • 1 carrot julienned- thin strips
  • 1 cucumber julienned- thin strips)
  • Vegetable oil
  • Chilli paste
  • Tomato sauce
  • Chilli sauce
  • Peanuts roasted and grounded
  • Cool water
  • Salt and sugar to taste

Steps

  1. Add oil and chili paste into the heated wok.
  2. Add the water, chili sauce and tomato sauce next.
  3. Mix everything until fragrant.
  4. Add sugar and salt to taste.
  5. Simmer on low heat until the gravy thickens.
  6. Grind the roasted peanuts and add into the gravy and stir well.
  7. Serve peanut sauce with the Tauhu Sumbat
  8. Cut the tofu block into squares.
  9. Deep fry the tofu pieces in vegetable oil.
  10. Mix the julienned cucumber, turnip and carrots together.
  11. Cut the fried square piece of tofu diagonally into 2 triangles.
  12. Then slit the triangle tofu piece and open it up with your fingers to stuff the vegetables into it.
  13. Serve the stuffed tofu with the peanut sauce.
