Baby weight gain at 37 wks is 2.7kg, is this normal?

I’m currently at 37 wks and baby is about currently 2.7kg, my husband felt i had not been eating more in the past feel weeks and blames me for the drop in baby weight, he felt the normal weight should have at least been 2.9-3kg by now. It makes me feel guilty that i have not been more, though doctor did advise this is still within normal range. What can I do to increase baby weight especially now i’m already at full term? #firsttimemom

Baby weight depend on genes and what we consume. For me nothing to worry about as long as baby's healthy. And doesn't mean a heavy baby is a healthy baby too. Furthermore if baby's big or heavy, then it will be difficult for your birth plan too. For me both pregnancy baby both was about 3kg whereas I am petite. Was I worried baby's too big or too small, yes I do. But it is all estimated, baby weight will be +/- about 200gm. If the doctor mentioned it is within normal range, not underweight or too small it is good. To increase baby's weight after birth you eat well and healthy, lots of BM or where necessary FM and baby will put on weight. The only thing that worries nurses and doctor when baby lose weight.

Thank you :)

My little one is only 2.35kg at W36D3. Weight has been lagging behind since 2 months back 😔 Tried eating durians and all..but didn't improve much. However, i myself have been gaining quite a bit 🤷🏻‍♀️ So i guess 2.7kg at W37 is good enough?

Hi dear, last checkup at 37 weeks, my baby is 2.7kg too, not too worried as doc said it’s a normal range. Don’t feel guilty, more important is baby is healthy :) few more weeks to go for us, Jia you!

Same! Checked up at 37weeks, baby 2.8kg. As long as baby is fine and healthy. Don’t worry so much!
