Why does my newborn baby have ointment in his eyes and how long will this ointment in my newborns eyes blur his vision?

My newborns baby's eye is puffy from delivery and gooey with ointment. What is the reason for this ointment? #newborn #week1 #baby

Hey mama! Firstly congratulations! Please bring baby to the doctor to ensure that there is no eye infection. It could just be a blocked tear duct which is common among newborns and will go away between 4-6 months. Here’s an article from a trustworthy source you should read: https://www.webmd.com/eye-health/newborn-eye-discharge

I saw some information about this on article.. sharing with you "this occurs when blood leaks under the covering of the eyeball due to the trauma of delivery. It's a harmless condition similar to a skin bruise that goes away after several days"
