Surname

As a GENERAL RULE children born out of wedlock (not legally married) must use the surname of the mother EXCEPTION; Under RA 9255 (Revilla Law) illegitimate children may use the surname of the father provided they are recognized by the father having affixed his signature at the back of the birth certificate of the child.
