I just read somewhere that Palak Paneer is actually not at all nutritious. Does anybody have a different opinion?

Well! Never heard of something like this. I have been eating and now making palak paneer all my life. Your question made me go through a couple of articles to actually figure out what is the truth. And I found very contradicting articles. I think you must go through these articles and should not worry about eating palak paneer. The article says that iron in spinach is largely gone when we boil spinach for more than 5 minutes and it should rather be boiled. And one should add lemon to help in iron absorption. And you can add paneer chunks later rather than cooking them together. http://www.thehealthsite.com/fitness/health-benefits-of-palak-paneer/ http://healthandhomeopath.blogspot.in/2010/06/palak-paneer-story-if-you-thought.html

thanks for the question! in fact, i regularly make palak paneer at home which my kids devour, along with me. we all know that both spinach and paneer are really good for health, hence it does seem quite nutritious. spinach is loaded with iron, while paneer is a great source of calcium. however, if you do go into reading about it, there are both sides to the story. while some sites say it is healthy, there are others, such as http://healthandhomeopath.blogspot.in/2010/06/palak-paneer-story-if-you-thought.html which says that combining palak and paneer is not such a good idea. we have been eating this for years now, not everyday but once in a few weeks. i think you'll have to take a call on this

Yes, there is a logic which says that absorption of iron (in palak) and calcium in (paneer) do not go well together as iron makes it difficult for calcium to absorb in the body. But, I think one should not be very finicky and once in a while it is fine to have palak paneer. And on regular basis you can have spinach and paneer on regular basis. And palak paneer is nutritious, and have it. :)
